They keep my records and when I need another door they key it like the previous doors. I usually get door handle and deadbolt with keypads. Steel doors on my (new to me )Morton have the door latch hole and the deadbolt hole too close together for the Schlage latch to fit. If you get one of this type, it is recommended to switch the door knob to a non-locking type, or you might accidentally lock yourself out. They use a 9 volt battery that lasts a long time because it just moves a little pin inside the mechanism and not the actual deadbolt. The inside just has a knob like a regular deadbolt. You can also program them so you have to use your code to lock them. To lock you just hit a button on the top and the mechanism locks and you can turn it to lock the door. The ones we have you put in your code and the outside knob locks to the mechanism and you can turn it to unlock. Don't have to carry house keys, or worry about getting locked out. Can be remotely unlocked via a wireless Ethernet connection or four digit code on keypad. Lowes carries a Schlage with electronics by Iris. If they lete their code and I don't have to rekey everything. All my employees have their own code, I choose which doors they can enter like the shop but not office, my code opens all doors.
